Ronald Mlalazi is an accomplished procurement professional who has also achieved the coveted Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply –FCIPS)  UK Fellow and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT) Fellow status, as a result of his outstanding contributions over the years in field of Procurement and Supply Chain management.

He also holds a master’s degree in procurement and supply chain from South Wales University (UK) and an MBA from Mancosa.

  • In 2017-2019 he was elected as CIPS Congress representative for Africa, a role that he was re-elected for another three-year term (2019-2022)
  • Currently works for Commerce Edge as Commerce Edge South Africa Managing Director
  • 2023, reviewed, researched and developed the strategic sourcing methodology and toolkits for National Treasury, South Africa
  • In 2022, he facilitated the SCM Executive Development Programme in the Public Sector in the Local Government sphere to more than 500 senior leaders on the strategic importance of Supply Chain in achieving government objectives (South Africa)
  • In 2018, he presented to more than 300 Director Generals/Deputy Director Generals and Chief Financial Officers across the country on the strategic importance of Supply Chain in Economic development in South Africa
  • He is also currently serving on the CIPS Global Fellows Mentorship Circles project team
  • Over the years, he has presented at various conferences on Supply Chain and procurement matters
  • He has written several articles on Procurement and Supply Chain published through Smart Procurement
  • He serves as the Academic Board member at the IMM Graduate School
  • Has served on the Smart Procurement World Conference Advisory Committee since 2012
  • He serves in the Interim Supply Chain Council of South Africa in the sub-committee responsible for Career Pathing and Continuous Professional Development (CPDs),
  • He developed the Supply Chain Management curriculum framework at the Da Vinci Institute
  • In 2020, he conceptualised and co-developed the Procurement modules on the Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development Programme on Procurement Leadership with Dr Ian George
